Friend in the Know: Gabrielle the Concierge

The best way to experience San Francisco? Ask a local.

At The Jay, we know the best way to experience San Francisco is through the people who know it best—the ones who live, work, wander, and play here every day. That’s the idea behind our Friend in the Know series, introducing you to the people who bring The Jay to life and sharing the places around the city they return to again and again.

From the coffee shop that makes their morning to the neighborhood spot they swear by, the bar they always bring friends to, or the hidden gem you’d never find on a typical city guide, our team is here to share their San Francisco favorites—and help you experience the city like a local.

Meet Gabrielle, Your Friend in the Know

One of the first friendly faces you’ll meet at The Jay, Gabrielle, our Chief Concierge, knows how to make San Francisco feel like home. And after spending her days working with guests to tailor a unique experience, she’s picked up a few favorite spots around the city that are worth knowing about, too.

When she’s not at The Jay, you’ll likely find Gabrielle outside exploring or at a farmer’s market. So, naturally, we asked her to share a few of the places she sends guests when they’re looking to experience San Francisco beyond the usual stops—and get to know the city like a local.

Gabrielle’s San Francisco Favorites:

  • For coffee: The Buoy Cafe for a Black Sesame Latte.
  • For a great meal: Lily for Vietnamese food – the lemongrass basil mussells are a must!
  • For drinks: High Treason is a favorite wine bar, also on Clement Street, near Lily.
  • For getting outside: Palace of Fine Arts – This relaxing space with lawns, ponds, and swans is so incredible to have in a bucolic city. “This place is truly a part of my SF story.”
  • For a can’t-miss San Francisco experience: The Saturday Farmer’s Market at the Ferry Building is one that can’t be missed, with fresh everything. She also really loves the Ferris Wheel at Fisherman’s Wharf.

Consider Gabrielle Your Local Connection.

The beauty of staying at The Jay is that you don’t have to figure out San Francisco on your own. From the moment you arrive, our team is here to help you discover the city beyond the usual tourist stops. So next time you’re at The Jay, connect with Gabrille at the Concierge Desk and ask her where to go. Chances are, you’ll leave with a few places on your list that weren’t on your itinerary.

That’s the beauty of having a Friend in the Know.
